Absolut Mandrin is a bright, citrus-flavored vodka that captures the juicy essence of mandarin oranges. It leans more toward fresh, natural citrus than sugary candy, making it a versatile choice for mixing or sipping over ice. It won’t substitute for a serious, unsweetened vodka in every context, but if you want a vodka with citrus character that doesn’t overpower, this is a solid option.
Origins & Craftsmanship
-
Produced by Absolut in Åhus, Sweden, using their standard vodka base made from winter wheat and pure water from deep wells.
-
Flavored with natural mandarin (mandarin orange) essence, no added sugars according to the brand.
-
Bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof).
Tasting Profile
| Element | Notes |

| Palate / Taste | Juicy mandarin orange flavor up front; slightly sweet citrus without being cloying; a touch of orange zest or tanginess lingers. |
| Finish | Clean and crisp, with a lingering citrus echo and minimal alcohol harshness. |
Food & Cocktail Pairings
-
Cocktails / Serving
• Mandrin Crush, Mandrin Mule, or vodka cocktails where you want a citrus uplift without adding juice.
• Vodka and soda or tonic with a mandarin or orange twist.
• Use as a citrusy substitution in vodka-based classics (e.g. instead of plain vodka in a screwdriver or citrus martini). -
Food Pairings
• Light seafood: ceviche, shrimp, smoked salmon — the citrus notes echo nicely.
• Salads with citrus vinaigrettes, goat cheese, or orange segments.
• Citrus desserts: mandarin or orange sorbet, citrus tarts.
• Salty snacks (olives, nuts) — salt brightens citrus flavors.
