This Sangiovese is produced in the Tuscany region of Italy, drawing fruit from vineyards across three distinct estates in Montalcino, Castelnuovo Berardenga, and Magliano. Established in 1970 as one of the original 13 wineries in Montalcino, Caparzo—a name derived from 'Ca’ Pazzo' meaning 'place touched by the sun'—was a pioneer in site-driven winemaking. Today, the estate is owned by Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini, who acquired the property in 1998 and has since modernized the cellars while maintaining a philosophy that balances tradition with innovation.
Wine Description
The Caparzo Sangiovese displays an intense ruby colour highlighted by violet reflections. The bouquet is vibrant and fruity, offering an aromatic profile of currants, pomegranate, dried blood orange, and rose hips, complemented by notes of ripe blackberries, wild strawberries, and a touch of vanilla spice. On the palate, this medium to full-bodied red is sleek and juicy, featuring a persistent finish that echoes the soft fruit and spice found on the nose.
