Luxuriously rich and mellow, Choya Kokuto Umeshu masterfully balances tart Kishu Nanko ume with the deep sweetness of 100% Okinawan kokuto (black sugar) and a whisper of dark rum. It captivates with its caramel, dried fruits, and gentle smoky warmth—perfect neat, with ice, or as a decadent dessert sipper
Origins & Craftsmanship
Crafted by Choya—the world’s largest producer of authentic umeshu—this expression is made from just four ingredients: Kishu Nanko ume, kokuto (100% brown sugar), cane spirit, and Jamaican dark rum. Each 720 ml bottle incorporates around 165 grams of ume fruit
Tasting Profile

Aroma & Flavor: Rich notes of dark rum, caramel, dried apricot, and plum, with subtle smoky and honeyed layers. The ume’s fruitiness and kokuto’s molasses depth create a warm, indulgent bouquet.
-
Palate & Finish: Silky and lush—it blends dried fruit sweetness with a touch of smoke and mineral nuance, culminating in a warming, dessert-like finish reminiscent of burnt caramel.
Serving & Pairings
Elegant served neat or on the rocks, Choya Kokuto Umeshu also inspires creative cocktail use or can be drizzled over vanilla ice cream for luxurious dessert indulgence.
