Darroze 1978 Armagnac is a vintage French Armagnac selected by the Darroze family, whose vintage-focused Collection Unique highlights individual years and estates rather than blending different vintages together. Mature Armagnac from this period develops an expressive balance of fruit, spice and oak, while the exact estate, grape variety and strength should be matched to the specific bottling before being assigned to the listing. Darroze confirms that its Collection Unique vintage Armagnacs originate from a single vintage and single estate and are bottled at natural cask strength.
Food Pairing: Duck confit, foie gras, aged Comté, plum tart, crème brûlée, toasted walnuts, dried fruits, gingerbread, and dark chocolate.
Tasting Notes: Rich and mature with expressive fruit, warming spice, vanilla and developed oak character.
Nose: Ripe plum and mirabelle with vanilla, liquorice, clove and warming spice.
Palate: Intense and fruit-driven with plum and orchard-fruit character, peppery spice and structured mature oak.
Finish: Long and persistent with lingering fruit, spice, vanilla and seasoned oak.
