James Hetfield of Metallica is not only the frontman of one of the most iconic hard rock bands of all time but also a great lover of whiskey and cigars. His passion for top-shelf whiskey led him and his bandmates to master distiller Dave Pickerell, who helped them develop Blackened whiskey, a distilled spirit that uses reverberating sound waves during barrel aging to enhance flavor. With legendary master distiller Rob Dietrich leading Blackened whiskey into a new era, Hetfield turned to Drew Estate to help create the perfect whiskey pairing cigar. Enter Blackened M81.
The Blackened M81 series uses a boldly entertaining filler mixture of Nicaraguan and Pennsylvanian Broadleaf “Green River One Sucker” tobaccos. This intense yet balanced blend partners with a Connecticut Broadleaf binder and a Mexican San Andres wrapper to generate immense body and taste.
The Blackened M81 Robusto reigns at the top of the charts with its popular 5” x 50 size and big, bold Maduro flavor. Pepper and earth notes lay down the beat, while chocolate, espresso, cinnamon, and nut flavors deliciously rock and roll over the palate. Woody undertones provide a savory undercurrent throughout the full-flavored extravaganza.
The Blackened M81 Robusto is an ideal companion to whiskey, whether you are rocking out with friends at your favorite watering hole or enjoying the quiet relaxation afforded by going solo. So, take your cigar escapes to another level and enter the delectably gratifying world of Blackened cigars.
