Originating from Italy in the Trentino-Alto Adige region, specifically within the Trentodoc DOC appellation, Ferrari Brut represents the benchmark, historic, and defining expression of Italian Metodo Classico sparkling wine. Founded in 1902 by Giulio Ferrari in Trento, the house pioneered Chardonnay cultivation in Italy with the vision of producing sparkling wines capable of competing with fine Champagne. Managed by the Lunelli family since 1952, the estate sources hand-harvested grapes from high-altitude mountain vineyards situated between 300 and 700 metres above sea level across the Trentino slopes, where chalky limestone and gravelly alluvial soils dominate. The winemaking philosophy strictly adheres to the traditional method (Metodo Classico), utilizing gentle pneumatic pressing of base wines followed by secondary bottle fermentation and a minimum of 20 months of extended lees aging in the underground cellars. The result is a crisp, highly sophisticated Blanc de Blancs that balances mountain freshness, precise minerality, and fine autolytic complexity.
Wine Description
The wine presents a luminous pale straw yellow colour with subtle greenish reflections and a fine, lively, and persistent bead of delicate bubbles. An expressive, highly perfumed bouquet opens with fresh aromas of ripe Golden Delicious apple, yellow pear, lemon curd, and white peach, interwoven with delicate notes of acacia blossom, crushed stone, fresh brioche, and toasted bread crust. On the palate, it is light-to-medium bodied, crisp, and energetic, delivering concentrated flavours of orchard fruit, Mandarin orange, and saline mineral earth, all supported by a bright, mouthwatering spine of natural mountain acidity. Framed by a creamy, satiny mousse and a refined mid-palate structure, it concludes with a long, persistent finish marked by lingering citrus peel, almond, and a clean chalky mineral grip. Composed of 100% Chardonnay, it offers an approachable yet deeply layered profile with immediate drinking appeal. Stylistically, it combines Alpine elevation, Italian elegance, and classical traditional method tension.
