Glasgow 1770 Cognac Cask Finish Single Cask is an exclusive single-cask bottling produced by The Glasgow Distillery Company at their modern distillery in Hillington, Glasgow. Matured initially in first-fill ex-bourbon casks before undergoing a dedicated finishing period in a single hand-selected French oak Cognac cask, this release represents the distillery's commitment to spirit innovation and wood management. Bottled at natural cask strength without chill filtration or artificial coloring, it offers an expressive fusion of Glasgow’s light, fruity house style with the rich grape, floral blossom, and French oak spice notes imparted by Cognac cask maturation.
Food Pairing: Pairs exceptionally well with roasted duck breast, pan-seared pork loin with apple reduction, dark chocolate ganache, tarte Tatin, or aged Gouda cheese.
Tasting Notes: A vibrant and fruit-forward Lowland single malt delivering notes of poached pear, French oak spice, vanilla bean, dried apricot, and warm honey.
Nose: Fragrant aromas of poached pear, green apple, vanilla bean, dried apricot, orange blossom, and subtle toasted oak.
Palate: Smooth and rounded on the palate with layers of golden syrup, candied lemon peel, soft raisin, french oak spice, and buttered pastry.
Finish: Long and warming with lingering notes of sweet orchard fruit, light grape skin tannins, and soft wood spice.
Serve: Enjoy neat in a Glencairn glass or with a few drops of water to open up its delicate fruit and Cognac cask layers.
