Italy’s Friuli Venezia Giulia region, particularly the Collio DOC area, is renowned for its exceptional white wines. Jermann, established in 1881 and still family-owned, stands as one of Friuli’s most innovative wineries, merging tradition with modern winemaking. Silvio Jermann revolutionized the estate in the 1970s, focusing on purity of varietal expression and meticulous vineyard practices.
Wine Description
This Picolit is a brilliant golden straw in colour. On the nose, it opens with delicate aromas of acacia honey, dried apricots, white flowers, and subtle herbal nuances. The palate is elegantly sweet yet balanced by fresh acidity, offering layers of candied citrus, ripe pear, and hints of almond. It is medium-bodied, with a silky texture that leads into a long, refined finish marked by lingering floral and mineral notes. Made from 100% Picolit, it shows beautifully now but also has the potential to evolve gracefully over the next 5–7 years. This wine is a testament to Jermann’s philosophy of producing distinctive, terroir-driven wines that highlight Friuli’s unique varietals.
