Kapena Chili Infused Tequila delivers a bold yet balanced fusion of smooth reposado tequila and vibrant Hawaiian chili heat. Built on a quality agave base and finished with the distinctive spice of Hawaiian chili peppers, it offers an exciting combination of sweet agave richness, fruit-forward pepper character, and a warming spicy finish. The result is a lively, cocktail-friendly tequila designed for drinkers who enjoy a little heat with their agave spirits.
Origins & Craftsmanship
Kapena Chili Infused Tequila begins with 100% Blue Weber agave tequila sourced from the Los Altos (Highlands) region of Jalisco, Mexico, where the mineral-rich soils and cooler nights produce larger, sweeter agave plants.
The tequila is first matured as a reposado for approximately nine months in American oak barrels, developing soft vanilla, caramel, and oak character before the infusion process begins.
After aging, the spirit is infused with Hawaiian chili peppers, known locally as nioi. These peppers bring not only heat but also a distinctive fruit-forward flavor profile, typically measuring 50,000–100,000 Scoville heat units, giving the tequila both spice and aromatic complexity.
Key production highlights:
- 100% Blue Weber agave tequila base
- Reposado maturation (~9 months in American oak)
- Infused with Hawaiian chili peppers
- Bottled around 40% ABV
The infusion results in a tequila that blends traditional agave sweetness with a lively pepper kick, making it especially suited to spicy cocktails and tropical drink styles.
