Five years after the original Linea PB, La Marzocco rebuilt it. The three-group Linea PBX keeps the PB's footprint and service familiarity but changes the thing that matters most: instead of one shared coffee boiler feeding all three groups, each group gets its own independent saturated boiler. Three groups, three brew temperatures, running simultaneously.
What the X actually changes
- Three independent saturated boilers: a dedicated 1.3 L brew boiler per group. Run a filter-roast single origin, a house blend and a decaf at three different temperatures at once — the whole point of a multi-roaster bar, and impossible on a shared-boiler machine.
- Dynamic preheater: incoming water is brought up to temperature before it reaches the brew boilers, which keeps all three groups steady at the peak of the rush rather than sagging as demand outruns recovery.
- Pro Touch steam wands as standard: high-performance wands that stay cool to the touch. Fewer burns, and milk does not bake on between jugs.
- Barista lights as standard: integrated LED lighting across the group area so you can read the extraction and the cup at a glance.
- 11 L steam boiler with dual PID: enough steam capacity for two baristas on milk continuously, with independent PID so steam pressure and brew temperature are set and held separately.
- Digital display: temperature readout, shot timers and intuitive programming, with firmware updates over USB.
Choosing your configuration
- AV (Auto-Volumetric): programmable volumetric doses per group with flow-meter control, so every shot stops at the same yield regardless of who is on bar.
- ABR (Auto Brew Ratio): adds precision scales built into the drip tray. Programme a brew ratio and the machine dispenses to reach it by mass rather than volume — the single biggest lever on shot-to-shot consistency across a three-group bar with rotating staff.
