The French have a phrase that perfectly sums up the art of winemaking: Le Douleur Exquise. This means "the exquisite pain of loving or striving for something unattainable." Wine is definitely a labor of love that demands everything from those who want to do it well. The perfect taste or the perfect grape is always out of reach, but worth striving for every single time. The Le Douleur Exquise 2016 Bergerac Blanc is fruity but accented by subtle tastes of basil and licorice—perfect for pairing with food, but we can’t help drinking it all on its own.
REGION The grapes for this wine were grown at a famous piece of land in the Southwest of France: Montravel. All of the wines that come from this region are notable for showcasing the soil’s effect on the taste of the wine, and each small plot of land brings out different characteristics in the grapes. It is worth trying different bottles from the region, as they will each have unique tastes that can only be found there!
TASTING NOTES The Le Douleur Exquise 2016 Bergerac Blanc is a beautiful French white wine that is perfect for sipping all year round. With a slightly fruity scent, the wine is rich with flavors of apple, pear, and citrus. With each sip, the basil and licorice accents in the background play across your mouth and offer a welcome balance to the fruit. Perfect for pairing with a cheese plate or fresh vegetables, the Le Douleur Exquise will be the highlight of your evening.
