Proof drastically alters the tasting experience. The Lost Lantern High-Low Mountain Bourbon Pairing places two vastly different Rocky Mountain spirits side-by-side, fiercely challenging your preconceived notions about barrel strength. This ten-year-old Idaho straight bourbon uses an unusual triticale mashbill and enters the bottle at a staggering, hazmat-level 154.4 proof. It doesn't hold anything back.
Montgomery Distillery takes a softer path. This four-year-old Montana wheated bourbon relies on a much lower entry proof to preserve delicate esters without overwhelming the palate with intense ethanol. The dry climate creates concentrated flavors. You're actively exploring how localized grain selections interact across the rugged, high-elevation environments of the American West.
Independent bottling thrives on striking contrasts. The brutal intensity of the Idaho release provides a fascinating, highly educational counterweight to the approachable elegance found inside the Montana bottle. Securing an allocated bundle that perfectly illustrates the extreme boundaries of regional American whiskey remains a rare triumph. We genuinely love this aggressive juxtaposition
