Old Forester bourbon stands as one of Kentucky's original pioneer distilleries, with a rich 155-year heritage that continues to captivate bourbon enthusiasts worldwide. This legendary American whiskey brand holds a special place in Prime Barrel history—our previous Old Forester single barrel selection set the record for fastest sellout at an astounding 3 minutes.
Premium Single Barrel Bourbon Selection Process A group of Prime Barrel members had the exclusive privilege of visiting the Old Forester Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky, where we carefully evaluated four exceptional single barrel bourbon options. This particular 100-proof bourbon barrel stood out immediately with its irresistible nose and full-bodied mouthfeel, making it an undeniable choice for bourbon collectors.
Old Forester Single Barrel Specifications
- Barrel Number: A131
- Distilled: 2020
- Bourbon Mashbill: 72% corn, 18% rye, 10% malted barley

Heat Cycling Bourbon Aging Process This premium bourbon barrel was aged using Old Forester's innovative heat-cycling environment, ensuring the bourbon distillate remains active year-round. This advanced aging process continuously pushes the Kentucky bourbon deep into the charred oak barrel and extracts complex flavors through the char layer, even during cold seasons when other bourbon barrels might go dormant.
Bourbon Tasting Notes & Flavor Profile
- Nose: Sweet caramel, vanilla bean, butterscotch, cherry, and charred oak
- Palate: Opens with vanilla and banana flavors, followed by butterscotch, black pepper, rye spice, clove, nutmeg, and oak tannins
- Finish: Long butterscotch and rye spice finish, gradually transitioning to baking spices and oak barrel notes
Historic Kentucky Bourbon Legacy This rare 100-proof single barrel bourbon truly embodies Old Forester's brilliance and may be the most balanced bourbon barrel we've selected from this storied Kentucky distillery. When you break the seal, you're not just enjoying exceptional small-batch bourbon—you're celebrating the legacy of America's first bourbon brand to individually seal bourbon whiskey in glass bottles back in 1870.
